Midtjylland vs Liverpool Predictions
- Midtjylland have lost four and drawn one of their five Champions League group matches this season.
- Midtjylland have notched goals in three UCL group games in a row.
- Liverpool have kept just four clean sheets in their last 16 Champions League away assignments.
Liverpool with little to play for in Denmark
With their place at the summit of Group D cemented with a game to spare and a taxing domestic schedule on the horizon, Liverpool’s team is expected to take on a very unfamiliar look for their clash with Midtjylland on Wednesday evening.
Players like Neco Williams, Nathaniel Phillips, Konstantinos Tsimikas, Naby Keita, Takumi Minamino and Divock Origi will all hope to see minutes in Denmark, and while Liverpool should still have enough quality to end their group campaign with a win, their personnel reshuffle should ensure that it won’t all be smooth sailing at the MCH Arena.
Midtjylland were always expected to make up the numbers in Group D, and though their record of four defeats and one draw from five games makes their chances a shock victory on Wednesday slim, the Danes’ sequence of scoring in three Champions League matches on the spin indicates they should be able to notch a consolation against what will be an understrength Liverpool rearguard.
Jurgen Klopp’s Reds have plenty of quality in reserve further up the pitch however, and the goal-scoring potential in their team should eventually allow them to overpower their inferior hosts.
With those factors considered, the Liverpool and both teams to score combination jumps out at a price worth backing for Wednesday, while our correct score prediction backs the Merseysiders to win 2-1.
The Reds rattled the net twice when they eased past Midtjylland at Anfield on October 27th, and another brace should allow the English champions to get the job done in Jutland.
