Montenegro to Win and Over 2.5 Match Goals
Montenegro vs Gibraltar Predictions
- Montenegro have only lost one of their last 10 matches.
- Gibraltar have lost all 29 of their previous World Cup or European Championship qualifiers.
- Five of Gibraltar’s last six defeats have seen over 2.5 goals scored.
Montenegro to make lightwork of Gibraltar
This will be the first ever meeting between these two sides and both will come into the contest on the back of earning promotion during last year’s UEFA Nations League.
Montenegro followed that success up with a 2-1 victory in Latvia in their opening World Cup qualifier on Wednesday, which also made it a winning start for new coach Miodrag Radulovic.
The Brave Falcons certainly appear to be a team on the up, as they have only lost one of their last 10 matches, while their most recent home fixture ended in a convincing 4-0 victory over Cyprus.
Gibraltar’s surprise promotion from the bottom tier of the Nations League came about after they collected eight points over the autumn from their home and away matches against Liechtenstein and San Marino.
However, Julio Cesar Ribas’ side do not have a good record in qualifying for World Cups or European Championships, as they have lost all 29 such games since becoming a full UEFA member.
That sequence includes Wednesday’s 3-0 loss to Norway in their opening 2022 World Cup qualifier and five of Gibraltar’s last six defeats have seen over 2.5 goals scored – the vast majority of those strikes coming from the opposition.
It gets worse for Gibraltar when they lose on the road, as their last eight away defeats have been by an aggregate score of 25-0.
We are predicting a similar outcome on Saturday, with our overall prediction being for a Montenegro win and over 2.5 goals to be scored in the match.
