      Reims to Win

      Reason for tip

Montpellier’s losing streak was extended to 11 thanks to a 5-1 thrashing at Marseille last Saturday and they are set to finally be relegated on Sunday. Their visitors, Reims, have won four of their last five matches and continue building momentum ahead of next month’s Coupe de France final.

      Reims 2-0

      Reason for tip

With Montpellier netting just two goals in their 11-match losing streak, a repeat of October’s 4-2 Reims win in the reverse fixture seems unlikely. Three of Montpellier’s last five defeats have come by a 2-0 scoreline and that same bet appeals on Sunday, with Reims’ last away game seeing them net twice without conceding.

      Montpellier vs Reims Predictions

      • Montpellier have won just four league games this season, losing each of their last 11 matches
      • Reims have hit form at the right time, winning four of their last five matches in all competitions
      • October’s reverse fixture saw Reims prevail in a 4-2 thriller

Reims ready to add to Montpellier’s misery

It has been a season of misery for Montpellier, who have been rooted to the foot of the Ligue 1 table for months. To say La Paillade are going down without a fight would be an understatement given they have lost 11 consecutive matches and their inevitable fate of relegation should finally be confirmed on Sunday.

Unsurprisingly, their decision to appoint Jean-Louis Gasset, the man who was sacked by Ivory Coast in the middle of their triumphant Afcon campaign of 2024, was a disaster, and his successor, Zoumana Camara, is yet to fare any better.

Camara’s two matches in charge have seen Montpellier beaten by an aggregate score of 7-1 and it is likely to be more of the same for La Pallaide’s third manager of the season against in-form Reims.

Hosts inevitable fate to finally be sealed

Sunday’s visitors, like their hosts, are also in Ligue 1’s relegation dogfight, but that is where the similarities end. Reims are five points clear of the drop and 17 better off than Montpellier, who they should have no issues against at Stade de la Mosson.

Reims have won four of their last five matches, booking their place in the Coupe de France final in that run, and crushed Montpellier 4-2 in the reverse fixture.

Given La Pallaide have conceded 14 goals and scored just one while losing their last five home matches, it is a surprise to see Reims are only a shade of odds-on for this clash, which they should win with ease.
