      Monza +2

      Reason for tip

Napoli are without a win in five away games and have only triumphed by more than a solitary goal, home or away, once in the last three months.  With Monza having recently pushed another title contender in Inter close, they could do the same against Napoli.

      Napoli 2-1

      Reason for tip

Only once across their last 12 matches have Napoli won by more than one goal and three of their last four victories have been by a 2-1 scoreline.  With so much at stake, this could be another nervy victory for Antonio Conte’s title challengers.

      Monza vs Napoli Predictions

      • Napoli have only won one of their last 12 matches by more than one goal
      • The Partenopei are winless in their last five away fixtures
      • Monza pushed Napoli’s title rivals Inter Milan all the way last month

Napoli will have to work for needed away win

Napoli will expect to move level on points with Serie A leaders Inter Milan by claiming victory at bottom of the table Monza, but their recent away record suggests they may not have things entirely their own way.

Despite still being very much in the title mix, Napoli’s away form has deserted them of late, as they are without a win in five on their travels, a run that includes defeat at Como and a draw with relegation-threatened Venezia.

Monday’s 3-0 home victory over another struggling side in Empoli will have boosted confidence, but that is the first time the Partenopei have won by more than one goal for over three months, which suggests they are tending to grind results out rather than blow away opponents.

Monza heading closer to the drop

Napoli’s away record should give Monza hope of keeping things tight, but it is hard to envisage Serie A’s bottom club taking anything from the game given they have won twice all season in the league and are 11 points adrift of safety.

Alessandro Nesta’s side have taken just two points from their last 12 games, but they did almost cause a shock against Napoli’s title rivals Inter last month, as they led 2-0 at the Giuseppe Meazza before succumbing to a narrow 3-2 defeat.

While similar excitement is not expected on Saturday, Monza can remain competitive and Napoli may have to settle for a familiar 2-1 scoreline, with three of their last four victories finishing in that manner.
