Newcastle vs Huddersfield Predictions
Newcastle’s dreadful start to the Premier League season is still giving them major troubles as we head into the final 12 weeks of the campaign. The Magpies failed to win any of their opening ten league matches, and despite a slight upturn in form since then they remain in danger of being dragged into the relegation battle.
Their 1-1 draw at Wolves last time out leaves Rafa Benitez’s side 16th in the table, just 2 points clear of the relegation zone occupied by Southampton, Fulham, and Saturday’s opponents Huddersfield.
As previously mentioned, Newcastle’s form has improved in recent weeks though. They have picked up excellent wins at home to Cardiff and Manchester City, and their draw at Wolves was a decent result too. In fact, after losing their opening 5 home Premier League games they have since won 4, drawn 1, and lost 3 of their last 8.
This won’t be good news for a Huddersfield side who are in desperate need of something positive. The Terriers avoided the drop against the odds last season, but their fortunes have shifted in the 2018/19 campaign and they find themselves rock bottom of the Premier League table.
Last time out they lost 2-1 at home to Arsenal, and while it’s not a terribly bad result on its own it does mean they are now winless in their last 13 Premier League matches. More worrying is the fact that 12 of these have ended in defeat, and this puts them an almost insurmountable 14 points adrift of the safety of 17th.
Huddersfield have picked up a total of just 6 points from a possible 36 away from home this season, and while Newcastle have had some difficulties in front of the St James’ Park faithful their recent upturn makes a home win look a great value bet on Saturday. We’re backing that along with a 1-0 correct score prediction.
