Newcastle -2

Reason for tip

Newcastle have won three of their last four matches by three goals or more and, in hot pursuit of a top-five berth in the Premier League, they can rack up the goals in victory over Ipswich, whose relegation would be mathematically confirmed with defeat on Saturday. Back the Magpies to win this by three goals or more.

Newcastle 3-0

Reason for tip

Ipswich were hammered 4-0 by Arsenal at Portman Road last time out and they could fail to net in another comprehensive defeat to Newcastle, who are pushing for the Champions League positions in the Premier League.

Harvey Barnes To Score Anytime

Reason for tip

Harvey Barnes is a man in form with four goals in his last four matches, including a brace at home to Manchester United, and the former Leicester man is a solid pick to score against permeable Ipswich Town.

Magpies look to bounce back from Villa hammering

Newcastle suffered a setback in their pursuit of Champions League football with a 4-1 hammering by Aston Villa last time out in the Premier League but they should have a much easier time of it at home to Ipswich on Saturday.

The Magpies had looked a seriously determined side since lifting the EFL Cup in March, winning their subsequent four Premier League matches to emerge as prime contenders for the top five and beyond.

But they were thumped at Villa Park last Saturday and they cannot afford to take their foot off the gas with the likes of Nottingham Forest, Manchester City and Chelsea also hot on their heels.

Ipswich could go down with a whimper on Tyneside

The good news for Newcastle fans is on Saturday they face an Ipswich team all but mathematically relegated to the Championship and the Tractor Boys are unlikely to put up much of a fight.

Town were pulled apart in their 4-0 defeat at home to Arsenal on Sunday, losing Leif Davis to a red card after 32 minutes following his poor challenge on Bukayo Saka.

Davis joins a long list of absentees for Kieran McKenna’s side, who are especially light on personnel in attack.

Sammie Szmodics, Omari Hutchinson, Jaden Philogene and Wes Burns all remain out and star forward Liam Delap was on the bench last time out as he continues to recover fully from a rib injury.

Delap could be in line to start this time around but his side could be outclassed at St James’ Park.

Newcastle have had to make do without boss Eddie Howe, who has been recovering from pneumonia recently, but they have still flexed their scoring muscle under interim boss Jason Tindall.

Before the loss to Villa, Newcastle had beaten Leicester, Manchester United and Crystal Palace by an aggregate score of 12-1 and they can win this contest by three goals or more.

In-form Barnes could strike again

Ipswich have had their struggles up top recently but they are also leaking too many goals, conceding 71 times in 33 league matches – an average of 2.15 goals conceded per game.

It was always going to be a tough task for McKenna’s men to stay afloat in an increasingly competitive Premier League and on Saturday their fate could be sealed.

As for a correct score, Ipswich might struggle to score once again and 3-0 to the Magpies looks the way to go.

One Newcastle player set to finish the season strongly is winger Harvey Barnes, who scored a brace at home to Manchester United earlier this month and has netted four times in as many games.

Back him to get on the scoresheet.
