Newcastle vs Leicester City Predictions
- Newcastle have just two defeats in seven home league games (W3, D2).
- Leicester have scored 10 goals across their seven away games.
- The Magpies have gone five games without a clean sheet.
Ruud awakening for Foxes
Leicester have picked up four points from two games since Ruud van Nistelrooy took charge but they face their toughest test to date at Newcastle on Saturday.
Newcastle have a fairly modest 10 points to show from seven home games so far but it is worth noting that they have faced Arsenal, Tottenham, Liverpool and Manchester City already in the Premier League at home – beating the two London clubs and taking points against the league leaders and defending champions. Eddie Howe’s men have also managed a cup win over Chelsea at this venue.
Back Newcastle to win and concede
Leicester have picked up under Van Nistelrooy but they were lucky to claim a point at home to Brighton last time out and this will be their first away game under the guidance of the Dutchman.
The Foxes away form has been poor with just one win in seven attempts, losing four, and Newcastle are the deserved favourites in the betting.
The standout bet here could be backing a home win with both teams to score as Eddie Howe’s side have struggled for clean sheets. The Magpies have conceded in each of their last five games overall and have managed just two shut-outs in seven attempts at home, while Leicester are scoring on average over a goal per-game away from home and they have only failed to score in one of their Premier League fixtures.
In-form Isak can add to goals haul
A 3-1 win for Newcastle is the correct score prediction as Leicester concede on average 2.6 goals-per-game on their travels and they’ve shipped at least three goals in five of their last six losses across all competitions.
Newcastle forward Alexander Isak has six goals in 13 Premier League appearances this season and has scored in back-to-back games ahead of Leicester’s visit. Isak’s goals have come in bursts this season as he hit four goals in three games for club and country in September, before a run of five goals and two assists in five games before and during the last international break. The Swedish striker looks to have hit another purple patch and is therefore a strong contender for an anytime goal on Saturday.
