Newcastle vs Nottingham Forest Predictions
- Both teams to score has landed in each of the last five meetings between these sides.
- Nottingham Forest have scored in ten of their last 11 Premier League games.
- Newcastle have scored at least three goals in four of their last six home league fixtures.
Magpies to get back on track
Both of these sides have suffered setbacks in their pursuit of European football in recent weeks, but it could be Newcastle who get their challenge back on track in a high-scoring win against the overperforming Nottingham Forest on Sunday.
The hosts have lost three of their last four Premier League games and each of their last two at home, but they have scored in each of their last six at St James’ Park and have picked up positive results against Spurs, Arsenal, Liverpool, and Aston Villa this season.
Tricky Trees to strike in the north east
However, the Magpies have conceded six goals in their last two at home and face a Tricky Trees outfit that have scored in ten of their last 11 top-flight games, averaging 2.27 goals per game across this period.
This goalscoring form is offset by the fact they have conceded three or more goals in three of their last eight on the road, though, and hosts Newcastle have bagged a hat-trick or more in four of their last six home matches.
Isak to contribute to high-scoring affair
Newcastle won the reverse fixture at The City Ground 3-1 in November, and both teams have scored in each of the last five meetings between this pair, making that the standout bet at St James’ Park.
Sunday’s favourites have won three of these five meetings, scoring exactly three goals in each of those victories and playing out a 3-2 victory last season. With them scoring exactly three goals in three of their last six at home but conceding twice or more in three as well, a 3-2 correct score prediction looks a huge price.
Alexander Isak failed to make an impression at the Etihad last weekend and has now gone three starts without a goal, but he scored the opener in Nottingham earlier this season and still has 14 goals across his last 15 competitive appearances, making him a good-value goalscorer tip.
