Morecambe Double Chance (Win or Draw)

      Reason for tip

Whereas Newport are on a miserable run of one win in twelve, losing the last three, Morecambe have tasted success in six of their last nine away games.

      Morecambe 2-1

      Reason for tip

Newport were beaten 2-1 by Wimbledon in their last game, the fourth successive fixture in which they have conceded at least twice. Morecambe, meanwhile, beat Tranmere 2-0 on New Year’s Day, and have scored at least twice in four of their last seven on the road, including a 2-1 success at Harrogate.

      Newport County vs Morecambe Predictions

      • Newport have managed just one win across their last twelve games
      • It’s now two victories in three for Morecambe
      • Half of the Exile’s last six home matches have ended in defeat

      Can Newport find some form?

Newport are plummeting down the League Two table, with a run of just one win across their last twelve games in all competitions meaning they entered this round in 18th place in the table.

Their most recent match was a 2-1 reversal to Wimbledon, which also signaled a third successive defeat over the Christmas period.

The pressure is therefore mounting on manager Nelson Jardim, whose have been beaten in three of their last six matches at home, with the reversal to the Dons following losses against Peterborough and Chesterfield.

      Can Morecambe kick on?

That will provide some hope to opponents Morecambe, who ended their ten-month wait for a home victory by beating Tranmere 2-0 on New Year’s Day.

That result moved them off the bottom of the table ahead of this round, but it must be pointed out things have not been too bad for Derek Adams’ side on the road.

The Shrimps have only lost three of their last nine away matches, winning five times, including a 1-0 success at Carlisle on Boxing Day, with 16 of their 20 points coming on their travels.

To take some extra insurance, I predict Morecambe double chance for this game, selecting 2-1 to the visitors as a correct score prediction.
