Struggling Lyon will not be helped by Lacazette absence

Lyon missed out on the European places in Ligue 1 last season and a repeat could be on the cards this campaign based on their first two performances.

Les Gones slipped to a surprise 2-1 defeat to Strasbourg on the opening weekend of the season and things went from bad to worse in their first home contest as they were hammered 4-1 by Montpellier.

Lyon had forward Alexandre Lacazette sent off in that contest and will be without the former Arsenal man for this weekend’s visit to Nice, who are worth a bet to win.

Nice can continue decent home run

Nice have started the season with successive draws but neither of those results were disgraceful with both of their opponents – Lille and Lorient – have finished in the top half last term.

Nice won the corresponding fixture against Lyon 3-1 on the final day of last season and have lost only two league fixtures at the Allianz Riviera since September 2022.

But while they look the best selection to win the match, goals could be on the cards and a 2-1 win for the club from Cote d’Azur looks a wise correct score prediction.
