Draw

Reason for tip

Norwich and Portsmouth have recorded 24 draws between them in this term’s Championship and there is unlikely to be much between the sides, who have little left to play for in the league this season.

Draw 1-1

Reason for tip

Both teams have scored in 27 of Norwich’s 42 games in this season’s Championship, so both sides should find the net in this contest and 1-1 looks like a decent pick for the correct score.

Norwich vs Portsmouth Predictions

  • These sides have drawn 24 league games between them this season
  • Norwich have won just one of their last eight matches
  • Both teams have scored in 27 of Norwich’s 42 league games – the most in the division

Mid-table Canaries with sights on next season

Norwich could be forgiven for already looking towards next season with little left to play for this campaign and their clash with Portsmouth is unlikely to be a classic.

Only Leeds (82) have scored more Championship goals than the Canaries (63) this season but Norwich have recently taken their foot off the pedal.

They have won just one of their last eight matches in the second tier, demonstrating complacency in their game with Sheffield Wednesday last month in particular, having thrown away a 2-0 lead to lose 3-2.

They also lost to relegation-threatened Plymouth at the start of April and have taken just one point from three games this month.

It is hard to make a case for them but then again, visitors Portsmouth have not exactly set the Championship alight this term.

Pompey cannot afford to be complacent

Pompey have created a four-point buffer between them and the relegation zone and are heading towards safety but they can not afford to take their eye off the ball.

That said, they have won just one of their last six games, although five of those fixtures were settled by a single goal and the other finished as a draw.

This could also be close and the draw is the way to go while 1-1 is the best correct score selection.
