Nottingham Forest To Win To Nil

Reason for tip

Nottingham Forest had won seven straight games prior to their midweek 1-1 draw with leaders Liverpool and the visit of rock-bottom Southampton should give them the chance to get back to winning ways at the first attempt. Forest’s last five wins have been accompanied by clean sheets and Saints have scored just six goals in 11 away league games, so back a home win to nil.

Nottingham Forest 2-0

Reason for tip

A Forest win and a clean sheet is the main tip, but the hosts aren’t prolific scorers. Nuno’s side have scored just 12 goals in 10 home games so a job done 2-0 win looks to have a chance.

Chris Wood To Score Anytime

Reason for tip

Chris Wood can continue his exceptional season with an anytime effort. The Forest forward has 13 goals in 21 league games this season and has scored in each of his last three Premier League appearances.

Nottingham Forest vs Southampton Predictions

  • Forest have won seven of their last eight across all competitions.
  • Forest’s last five wins have been to nil.
  • Southampton have scored just six goals in 11 away league games.

Saints unlikely to trouble Forest

Nottingham Forest held league leaders Liverpool to a 1-1 draw in midweek and they should be able to follow that up with a win over bottom club Southampton on Sunday.

Saints came agonisingly close to what would have been a morale-boosting win at Old Trafford on Thursday, but they conceded three late goals and instead suffered yet another confidence sapping defeat.

A trip to surprise title challengers Forest is about as tough as it could be in terms of follow-up fixtures for Saints as they look for a response, as Forest had won seven in a row prior to their stalemate with Liverpool.

Back a home win and a shut-out

Forest are the clear favourites to win so the best angle could be backing a home win to nil.

Forest’s last five wins have been accompanied by clean sheets and they have conceded just eight goals in 10 league games at the City Grounds, while Southampton have scored a paltry six goals in 11 away games and have failed to score in four of their last seven trips.

A routine 2-0 home win is the correct score prediction as Forest have scored at least two goals in six of their last eight games and exactly two in four of those, while they have only scored 12 goals at home in the league but should be able to win with a bit of room to spare against the league’s bottom club.

Forest forward Chris Wood is the obvious anytime scorer pick here as he looks to continue an exceptional season. The New Zealand international has 13 goals in 21 league games this season and has scored in each of his last three Premier League appearances.
