      Olympiacos vs Wolverhampton Predictions

      • Olympiakos scored multiple goals at home against both Tottenham and Bayern Munich in the Champions League groups.
      • Wolves have conceded two or more in each of their last two away games in this competition, as well as in three of their last five.

Defeats few and far between for hosts at home

After losing the first leg at home, Olympiacos seemed to be on the back foot ahead of their trip to North London, but the Greeks showed a tremendous amount of resilience at The Emirates, eventually winning deep in extra-time. Such a confidence-boosting victory should mean that they come into their second fixture against English opposition feeling positive.

The Greeks did lose at home to Arsenal, but prior to that they’d looked very useful at home, scoring in each of their three home Champions League matches before dropping into this competition, scoring twice against both Tottenham and Bayern Munich. Such scoring form suggests that they can do well against a Wolves’ rear-guard that has done anything but cover itself in glory on the road of late.

Visitors not as sturdy on the road

Wolves have done well in this competition, though their best efforts have come at home. On the road, Nuno Espírito Santo’s men have been less effective, especially of late.

Their lost away to Espanyol in the previous round was their first defeat of the competition, but it wasn’t the first time that they’d come up short defensively on their travels. They conceded three goals away against Braga and failed to keep a clean sheet away against Bratislava prior to that. They also conceded twice away at Torino in qualifying. Olympiacos aren’t among the tournament favourites, but they’re no slouches offensively, especially at home, so Wolves’ recent defensive exploits don’t exactly bode well.

      Home goals on the menu

Wolves come into this match as favourites, though that seems a little unjust, especially as their last few travelling efforts in Europe have been sub-par. At the prices, ‘Olympiacos to Score Over 1.5 Goals’ catches the eye. Their effort against Arsenal was tame, but if the hosts can re-find the level of their efforts against both Bayern and Spurs, both of whom they scored twice against at this venue, then there’s no reason why they can’t seriously hurt a Wolves team that has conceded six in their last two away UEL matches.

‘Correct Score’ punters might like to a try a 2-2 draw. Olympiacos have the quality going forward to hurt the visitors, but they shipped twice against Spurs, thrice against Bayern and could easily have conceded twice against Arsenal. Couple this with Wolves’ scoring record on the road and a goal-filled draw appeals.
