Coventry to Win

Reason for tip

Coventry are on a storming run in the Championship and should have too much for Oxford, who have failed to win any of their last six games

Coventry 2-0

Reason for tip

Oxford have had problems finding the net recently and it would not be a huge shock if they failed to register, so the Sky Blues can win with a bit in hand

Oxford United vs Coventry Predictions

  • Coventry have won seven of their last eight Championship matches
  • Oxford are winless in their last six league outings
  • Just one of Oxford’s last nine league games has featured more than two goals

Red-hot Sky Blues eying the top six

A rich vein of form has put Coventry firmly in the hunt for a playoff place and Frank Lampard’s side should be able to enhance their Championship top-six claims by winning at Oxford on Saturday.

Seven wins from their last eight league games have put the Sky Blues just a point behind West Brom and Blackburn, who occupy the two spots that look firmly up for grabs and City’s run is even more impressive when you consider the only team they have not beaten in that sequence has been table-toppers Leeds.

That’s all bad news for Oxford, who look to be vulnerable as they have not tasted victory in their last six outings and still need to establish a bit more daylight between themselves and the bottom three.

Goal-shy United are slipping

United did enjoy a decent run when Gary Rowett took the reins, but that has become a distant memory and goals have proved hard to come by.

They have scored just once in their last six matches and that came in a 1-1 draw at home to Bristol City when they played against ten men for an hour and the Robins were eventually reduced to nine.

That does little to inspire as they face the second-tier’s in-form outfit, so the Sky Blues represent decent value with correct-score enthusiasts points towards a 2-0 victory for the visitors.
