Sheffield United to Win

Reason for tip

Sheffield United are in superb form, especially away from home, having won eight of their last nine Championship games on the road. With Oxford struggling defensively and sitting near the bottom of the table, Sheffield United should continue their strong push for promotion with another win.

Sheffield United 2-0

Reason for tip

A 2-0 victory for Sheffield United seems the most likely scoreline. They’ve won eight games this season by that margin, and Oxford’s defensive vulnerabilities, combined with Sheffield United’s scoring form, point to a comfortable but controlled away win.

Oxford United vs Sheffield United Predictions

Blades’ promotion run to continue

Sheffield United are in excellent form and look set to continue their good run away at Oxford on Saturday. Chris Wilder’s side have won eight of their last nine Championship games on the road and have lost just once in their last ten away matches.

They lead the Championship and have won 26 of their 39 games this season, while Oxford are 19th in the table with ten wins and 17 defeats.

Sheffield United beat Coventry 3-1 last Friday, in what was their second consecutive Championship win. United have won 24 of the 30 games in which they’ve scored first this season (80%) and they opened the scoring again in that match.

They were priced as 11/10 favourites to win the game and triumphed with something to spare as the Blades maintained their promotion push.

The hosts have had defensive issues at home lately, with Oxford failing to keep a clean sheet in four of their last five Championship games. They have conceded 25 goals in 19 home matches this season.

Sheffield United will be hopeful of getting on the scoresheet here. They have scored in ten consecutive games and are averaging 1.50 goals a game in their four away games against teams in the bottom six this season.

They are in excellent form away from home, having won six straight Championship games on the road, while Oxford have lost five of their last seven.

A 2-0 win for Sheffield United looks the most likely correct score. Eight of their 26 league wins this season have come by that scoreline and, while they have been in excellent form, three of their last four games have stayed under 2.5 goals.
