Peterborough vs Nottingham Forest Predictions

  • Both teams have scored in four of Peterborough’s last five home Championship fixtures.
  • Nottingham Forest have won six of their last seven Championship games.
  • Forest have conceded in six of their last nine away league games.

Forest are the form horses heading into playoffs

Nottingham Forest can maintain their excellent form and virtually sew up a playoff place by taking three points against Peterborough at Weston Homes Stadium on Saturday.

Steve Cooper’s men instantly overcame their Good Friday blip at Luton by thrashing West Brom on Monday to create a five-point cushion with two games in hand on most of the chasing pack. Forest top the six, eight, 10 and 12-game form tables, having scored as many goals in their last 12 league games as they produced in their first 21.

Cooper has hit upon a system and a formula that works in this division and he seems to have known his best XI almost from day one of the job. Steve Cook and Max Lowe are nearing fitness again, which should give the Reds a nice boost ahead of the playoffs, but for now don’t expect many changes for this trip to Cambridgeshire.

Posh may copy Luton’s aggressive approach

Posh have picked up with a couple of surprise wins of late, but their relegation could be confirmed on Saturday if they fail to win or Reading get more than a point against Hull City. Grant McCann’s side have to go for it and hope they catch Forest on an off day, although those have been few and far between recently.

Forest were unsettled by Luton’s aggressive approach last week and it may take something similar from Peterborough to knock them out of their stride. Posh do have a lively, in-form forward line that could do some damage, but lack the ability to keep clean sheets – leading us to conclude Forest can win with both teams on the scoresheet.

The Reds have conceded in six of their last nine road games too while the likes of relegation-threatened Reading, Barnsley and Derby all scored at home to them earlier in the campaign. Both teams have scored in four of Peterborough’s last five home Championship fixtures and we fully expect this to be more of the same.

Four-goal Forest away wins becoming common

Our correct score forecast of a 4-1 away romp may sound a bit optimistic but two of Forest’s last four away league wins have finished like that at Swansea and Blackpool – opponents well above Posh in the table.
