Plymouth Argyle Double Chance (Win or Draw)

      Reason for tip

Plymouth have accumulated the vast majority of their points on home soil and beat Norwich 2-1 in their most recent home fixture. Against a stuttering Sheffield United side that have lost their last two games, the Pilgrims provide appeal in the double chance market.

      Draw 2-2

      Reason for tip

Plymouth may be able to avoid defeat in this game, but that does not mean they will win. The Pilgrims have the leakiest defence in the division and against a Sheffield United side that have drawn 2-2 at Coventry and West Brom this season, a share of four goals offers plenty of appeal.

Plymouth Argyle vs Sheffield United Predictions

      • Plymouth have only lost five of their last 19 home games across all competitions
      • Sheffield United have lost back-to-back league fixtures
      • This will be the first meeting between the two sides at Home Park since December 2009

Pilgrims can shake things up at both ends

Plymouth Argyle may be facing an uphill battle to survive in the Championship this season, but if they do stay up, then it is likely to be down to their home form.

The Pilgrims have won seven league matches at Home Park this season, most recently last weekend’s 2-1 success over Norwich, while they have only lost five of their last 19 matches on their own patch across all competitions.

That sequence includes a shock FA Cup success over Premier League leaders Liverpool, as well as league victories against the likes of Sunderland, West Brom and Millwall – the latter they scored five past.

Automatic promotion hopefuls Sheffield United will provide a stern test for Miron Muslic’s side, but Plymouth are capable of getting the kind of result that will shake things up at both ends of the table.

      Blades blunted over recent games

Sheffield United were in pole position to secure an instant return to the Premier League, but back-to-back losses against Oxford and Millwall has seen them slip to third in the table, below both Leeds and Burnley.

The Blades have failed to score in both their recent defeats, but they have netted in 13 of their last 14 away games and will hope to rediscover their attacking verve when they head to Devon.

Out of form, it is difficult to see Chris Wilder’s side winning this game, but Plymouth’s defence is the leakiest in the division, so the Blades can score and the 2-2 draw offers plenty of appeal.
