Port Vale to Win

Reason for tip

Port Vale have recorded successive home wins in League Two and they can give their promotion pursuit a serious boost with a third straight victory against Barrow, who are in no-man’s land in the fourth tier.

Port Vale 2-1

Reason for tip

Ten of Port Vale’s last 11 wins in all competitions have been by single-goal margins, so they do not typically blow teams away. This could still be a close contest and a 2-1 win for Vale is the way to play it in the correct-score betting.

Port Vale vs Barrow Predictions

  • Port Vale have won back-to-back home games in League Two
  • Barrow have lost 16 matches in the league this season
  • The visitors have won just two of their last seven games

Port Vale target promotion from League Two

Port Vale’s pursuit of promotion from League Two has been boosted by back-to-back home wins and they can make it a hat-trick of victories at Vale Park when they host Barrow on Tuesday.

Vale have flirted with promotion all season and they have come good in the last week or so, easing to a 3-0 win over MK Dons before edging Morecambe 1-0 on Saturday thanks to a late strike from Ronan Curtis.

This fixture is the team’s game in hand over the top three of Walsall, Bradford City and AFC Wimbledon and they will not want to miss the chance to jump up into third.

Barrow with little to play for ahead of Tuesday’s clash

At this stage of the season, punters should start looking at the incentives teams have to win and Barrow could be lacking in that department.

They head into the match in 17th in the League Two standings, comfortably clear of the relegation zone but way off the playoff places.

That means they are really just playing for pride in the remaining matches of the season and Port Vale’s added hunger should be clear to see.

A home win is the way to go, while in terms of a correct score, a 2-1 win for Vale makes an appeal given that ten of their previous 11 wins in all competitions have been by single-goal margins.
