PSG to Win and Over 2.5 Match Goals

Reason for tip

PSG have won all four matches this season, scoring at least three goals in each. They have too much Champions League experience and momentum for Girona, who make their debut in the competition a few days after a 4-1 home defeat to Barcelona.

PSG 3-0

Reason for tip

PSG have scored exactly three goals in their last two Ligue 1 matches while Girona have shipped three or more goals in their two La Liga clashes with Champions League clubs this term. It will be a tough examination for them and a 3-0 defeat may follow.

PSG vs Girona Predictions

  • PSG have won all four matches this season, scoring at least three goals in each
  • Girona make their Champions League debut on the back of a 4-1 home defeat to Barcelona
  • Ousmane Dembele has scored three goals in his last two games for club and country and in two of his last four Champions League appearances

Off-key Girona could be cannon fodder

Girona will hear the Champions League anthem for the first time on Wednesday, but they could be cannon fodder for an on-song Paris Saint-Germain at Parc des Princes.

Blanquivermells surprised the football world, including their owners City Football Group, when they managed to finish third in La Liga last season. They lost on-loan winger Savinho and sold almost 50m euros worth of talent in the summer, but spent just as much to add depth to Michel’s squad.

Results so far this season have been a mixed bag with a draw at Girona and defeat at Atletico Madrid followed by wins against Osasuna and Sevilla. However, Sunday’s 4-1 home defeat to Barcelona showed where they are in relation to a Champions League club of the highest calibre.

Paris’ planning is bearing fruit

Paris Saint-Germain knocked Barca out in last season’s quarter-finals, but are set to play their first European campaign in six years without Kylian Mbappe.

Luis Enrique’s began to plan for life without the iconic forward last season with some of his selections and it seems like that preparation has borne fruit with PSG unbeaten in all four games this term and full of goals. They have scored at least three goals in each of their Ligue 1 matches and may be able to repeat that feat against a Girona side that conceded seven times across their two toughest assignments of the campaign so far.

For anytime goalscorer bets, Ousmane Dembele, who scored a brace in last weekend’s 3-1 win over Brest, is worth consideration. The talented winger is in great form and bagged in both legs of that quarter-final clash with Barca last season.
