PSV Over 2.5 Team Goals

Reason for tip

PSV have scored at least three goals in six of their last seven competitive games, including a 3-1 win over RKC at this venue in the final round of fixtures last season in what was essentially a dead-rubber for the Eindhoven club.

PSV 6-1

Reason for tip

PSV recorded some massive wins towards the end of last season, beating a strong AZ side 5-1, bottom club Vitesse 6-0 as well as winning 8-0 at mid-table Heerenveen. The defending champions may feel they have a point to prove after losing out on penalties to Feyenoord last weekend and that could spell trouble for RKC. Take a chance on a 6-1 win for PSV as Waalwijk did score in nine of their final 10 games last term and may at least be able to grab a consolation effort.

Noa Lang To Score Anytime

Reason for tip

Noa Lang hit four goals in 11 games for PSV last season in a campaign heavily impacted by injury. He looked sharp in the Johan Cruyff Shield against Feyenoord last week, however, as he managed to get on the scoresheet last week so he appeals for a goal at anytime on Saturday.

PSV vs RKC Predictions

  • PSV beat RKC Waalwijk 3-1 at the Philips Stadion in May.
  • PSV have scored at least three goals in six of their last seven competitive games.
  • Waalwijk conceded three goals in three of their last six games.

Champions PSV face Waalwijk

PSV and RKC Waalwijk begin the new Eredivisie season the same way they ended the previous one, with a meeting at Philips Stadion in Eindhoven.

The hosts had already been confirmed as champions when these sides met in May, while Waalwijk needed a win to guarantee survival. That made little difference to the result, however, as PSV triumphed 3-1 but Waalwijk avoided a relegation play-off in any case thanks to results elsewhere.

PSV have suffered some disappointment this season after losing the Johan Cruyff Shield to Feyenoord despite scoring four goals, missing out on penalties after a 4-4 draw, but they should be able to pick up a big win in their league opener.

PSV hit an incredible 111 goals in 34 league games last season and have scored at least three goals in six of their last seven games – averaging 4.4 per-game across that period – so over 2.5 goals for the home side is a very confident pick here.

As PSV beat RKC two a two-goal margin at the end of last season in what was a effectively a dead-rubber game for them they could record a huge win here. The Boeren recorded some massive wins towards the end of last season, beating a strong AZ side 5-1, bottom club Vitesse 6-0 as well as winning 8-0 at mid-table Heerenveen.

As such, I’m going to be bold with the correct score pick and go for a 6-1 win for PSV. Waalwijk did score in their final five away games last term and only failed to score in one of their last 10 overall, and they may be able to get a consolation effort after PSV have built-up an unassailable lead.

Noa Lang hit four goals in 11 games for PSV last season in a campaign heavily impacted by injury. He looked sharp against Feyenoord, however, and managed to get on the scoresheet last week so he appeals for a goal at anytime on Saturday.
