QPR vs Derby Predictions

  • Queens Park Rangers have gone six games without a win, losing five on the bounce before drawing with Huddersfield last time out
  • QPR have lost three consecutive home matches.
  • Derby County have earned two wins and a draw in their last four games.

Derby look to delay fate against out-of-form QPR

Wayne Rooney’s hopes of leading Derby County to a staggering escape from relegation look increasingly forlorn, with the Rams needing a minimum of three wins from their last four matches to have any chance of overhauling Reading. A trip to out-of-form QPR could represent a decent opportunity for the Rams to keep their slim hopes alive, however, after Mark Warburton’s team fell away from the play-off picture after a poor run of form.

QPR lost five consecutive games before a 2-2 draw with Huddersfield last time out, and are now five points off the top six, looking increasingly unlikely to make a late bid for promotion. The Loftus Road outfit have also lost three games on the bounce at home, and were beaten 2-1 by Rooney’s men in November’s return fixture.

Derby pulled off a stunning comeback win over Fulham on Good Friday to delay the league leaders’ promotion, and have picked up seven points from their last four matches after losing five of their previous six. Although Rooney’s team have the third-worst away record in the division, it’s do-or-die for the East Midlands outfit at Loftus Road, which could spur them onto a crucial result on Monday.

Rams could pick up result, although safety looks beyond them

QPR’s dreadful form, as well as the crucial importance of this match for Derby, could make the visitors worth backing at a decent price on the double chance market, even if the Rams’ off-pitch troubles look certain to condemn them to relegation to League One.

Meanwhile, a tight 1-1 draw could represent a decent correct score prediction after both teams netted in four of Derby’s last five games.
