Celtic to Win

Reason for tip

Celtic have won 16 of their 18 league games this season and have conceded just four goals in that run. They have also won four of the last five league meetings between these two rivals and have looked a cut above this season.

Celtic 3-1

Reason for tip

Both teams have scored in four of Rangers’ last five games so don’t discount them getting on the scoresheet, albeit in defeat. Celtic have netted three times in the last two head-to-heads and could repeat the trick here, take a 3-1 Bhoys win.

Daizen Maeda To Score Anytime

Reason for tip

Daizen Maeda’s high-pressing has caused Rangers nightmares in the past, the Japanese forward has netted three times in his last four meetings with the hosts and has netted twice in his last two league games.

Rangers vs Celtic Predictions

  • Brendan Rodgers has won 16 of his 20 managerial meetings with Rangers
  • Celtic have only lost once all season
  • Daizen Maeda has three goals in his last four games against these opponents

Bhoys too strong

Celtic’s dominance over Scottish football looks set to continue as they have opened up a 14-point gap over rivals Rangers at the top of the table before the two meet at Ibrox on Thursday.

With a later than usual kick-off of 3pm and no away fans, expect a fervent atmosphere but the hosts may struggle to translate that into a positive result on the pitch.

The Bhoys have scored 52 goals and conceded just four en route to winning 16 of their 18 league games this term, drawing the other two.

Rangers struggling

Rangers did put in an improved performance against their rivals in the 3-3 draw in the League Cup final but again failed to capitalise on their opponents below-par performance as they lost out on penalties.

Since then they have lost to St Mirren and were a touch fortunate to secure a 2-2 draw with Motherwell last time out. The pressure is rising on Philippe Clement and a defeat here could be the final straw.

This is a squad in transition but it is hard to pinpoint an area of the pitch in which Rangers are stronger and Celtic’s quality across the board should see them all but put the title to bed with a win.

Celtic have scored at least three in the last two head-to-heads between this pair and they look set to continue that trend, take them to record a 3-1 win.

Daizen Maeda has caused Rangers plenty of issues in recent years and has netted three times in the last four meetings between these two, he can extend that run.
