Over 3.5 Match Goals

Reason for tip

At least four goals have been scored in five of RB Leipzig’s last nine home games and also in six of Wolfsburg’s last 10 away games. The attacking nature of both teams, plus their defensive flaws, should ensure there are enough chances for a few goals in the 90 minutes.

Draw 2-2

Reason for tip

Leipzig will be desperate to avoid a repeat of the 5-1 home beating they suffered against Wolfsburg in November. The Wolves have avoided defeat in three of the last four meetings of the clubs and can secure a 2-2 draw – the same result lowly Heidenheim earned at Red Bull Arena on Sunday. Four of Leipzig’s last six games have been drawn while four of Wolfsburg’s last five have finished all square.

Mohamed Amoura To Score Anytime

Reason for tip

Mohamed Amoura has scored nine Bundesliga goals this season and bagged two in the Wolves’ 5-1 win at Red Bull Arena in November. He is in good form after hitting four goals in his last eight appearances and recently took on penalty-taking duty for the club.

RB Leipzig vs Wolfsburg Predictions

  • At least four goals have been scored in five of RB Leipzig’s last nine home games
  • At least four goals have been scored in six of Wolfsburg’s last 10 away games
  • Wolfsburg destroyed RB Leipzig 5-1 at Red Bull Arena in November

Red Bulls will be wary of Wolves’ bite

Wolfsburg’s bid to win a first piece of silverware in a decade takes them to Red Bull Arena on Wednesday for a DFB Pokal quarter-final clash with RB Leipzig. Ralph Hasenhuttl’s side did a number on the Red Bulls when they last made the trip south in November, countering the home side to devastating effect in a 5-1 win.

That scoreline made history as the Red Bulls’ heaviest-ever Bundesliga defeat and Marco Rose’s men will be determined to avoid another savaging by the Wolves.  Leipzig come into this in mixed form, having won only one of their last four Bundesliga games and drawing the other three.

Strike duo Benjamin Sesko and Lois Openda were on target as they battled back from two goals down to claim a home point against lowly Heidenheim on Sunday. But, in general, they have scored too few and leaked far too many goals to be considered title contenders this season.

More threat from Amoura

The cup is the Red Bulls’ last chance of glory now as they sit 20 points off the top and 12 points way from second place.  Rose will select his strongest available side for this clash with former Wolfsburg star Ridle Baku on the right and Xavi Simons alongside the two strikers in attack.

Hassenhuttl could make a couple of changes as he seeks to reproduce the formula that worked on the Wolves’ last visit. Mohamed Amoura, who scored twice in the 5-1 win, looks set to lead the line and is a good anytime goalscorer option after taking on penalty duties recently.

Wolfsburg’s pacy forward line ought to cause problems again and Leipzig’s best hope for a comfortable evening will be to put the visitors on the back foot early on. A high-scoring affair could result from the tactics of the two coaches with over 3.5 goals, which has landed in the majority of both teams’ games since the last meeting, the standout pick.
