      Reading to Win

      Reason for tip

Northampton are winless in eight League One games on the road and are on a run of three straight defeats on their travels, back Reading to inflict another road loss on the Cobblers.

      Reading 2-0

      Reason for tip

Three of Reading’s nine league victories have been by two goals, while Northampton have lost their last two games by at least two goals, so back a 2-0 win for the Royals.

      Reading vs Northampton Predictions

      Royals too strong for Cobblers

Back Reading to get the better of Northampton in this League One match on Thursday.

The visitors have sustained four defeats in their last six League One away games and have shipped 34 goals in 21 matches.

Reading are seventh in League One, ten points and 13 places above Northampton. The hosts have nine wins, four draws and seven defeats, while Northampton sit 20th with five wins, six draws and ten losses.

Northampton’s recent form does not inspire confidence. They lost 5-0 to Charlton on Saturday and were beaten 3-0 by Rotherham two weeks ago in their last League One away game.

The visitors’ poor away form is a concern. Northampton have not won any of their last eight League One games on the road and are on a run of three straight defeats away from home.

Meanwhile, Reading have been solid defensively at home this season, conceding seven goals in nine games – an average of 0.8 goals per game. They have also won seven of those nine matches despite losing the last of those to Blackpool 3-0.

A 2-0 home win for Reading looks the best correct-score option.

Three of their nine league victories have been by two goals, while Northampton have lost their last two games by at least two goals.
