Real Madrid vs Bayern Munich Predictions
- Real Madrid have won four of their last six contests
- Real Madrid are unbeaten in 11 Champions League matches this term
- Bayern Munich are without a clean sheet in their last four contests
- Vinicius Junior has scored five Champions League goals this season
Real can follow La Liga success with Champions League semi-final scalp
Real Madrid were crowned La Liga champions at the weekend and they can also edge closer to yet another Champions League title by beating Bayern Munich in the second leg of their blockbuster semi-final tie.
Los Blancos eased to a 3-0 win over Cadiz on Saturday but it was Girona’s 4-2 win over Barcelona which meant Carlo Ancelotti’s men established an unassailable lead at the summit and were named champions.
It had long been a case of when and not if Real Madrid would win La Liga – a competition in which they have won 27 of their 34 matches this season.
But they have also looked pretty untouchable on the European stage this season, having gone ten matches unbeaten in the Champions League.
That included two legs against defending champions Manchester City in the quarter-finals as well as a 2-2 draw away to Bayern Munich last time out.
Vinicius Junior drew first blood in that contest before Leroy Sane and Harry Kane put Bayern Munich in front.
But the tie is still in Real Madrid’s control after Vinicius scored an 83rd-minute penalty to ensure the game finished all square.
Bayern Munich’s rearguard could be exposed
At the Santiago Bernabeu, Real are likely to be more dominant against Bayern, who have blown hot and cold all season under Thomas Tuchel.
It was a case of the latter on Saturday as the Bavarians were beaten 3-1 by Stuttgart and, while they have little to play for in the Bundesliga, it was an eyebrow-raising result.
Bayern Munich have lost seven games in the Bundesliga this term and it has been one of the club’s worst domestic seasons in recent memory.
The Champions League could yet save them but they simply look too vulnerable at the back to cope with Real Madrid on their own patch.
Real Madrid are the bet to win this game and can prevail by a 3-1 scoreline.
Both teams have scored in each of Bayern Munich’s last four fixtures, the most recent of which they lost 3-1.
Vinicius can make an impact at the Bernabeu
Vinicius, meanwhile, bagged a brace last time out to take his Champions League goal tally to five this season and he can get on the scoresheet at the Santiago Bernabeu.
The Brazilian’s pace and trickery should again cause Bayern problems and he is likely to be on penalty duty in the second leg too.
