Both Teams To Score

Reason for tip

Leganes are fighting against relegation and their desperate need for points could see them find the net against the Spanish champions, Real Madrid. Real have managed just two clean sheets in their last 13 games and conceded twice against Leganes in the Copa del Rey last month.

Real Madrid 3-1

Reason for tip

While Leganes may have enough to find the net against Real Madrid for the fifth time in seven meetings, a win, or even a draw, is likely to evade them. Real have won six of their last seven home matches in La Liga and can secure all three points in their bid to retain their title.

Real Madrid vs Leganes Predictions

  • Real Madrid have managed just two clean sheets in their last 13 games, failing to register any in their last five
  • Leganes have netted in four of their last six meetings with Real, netting two when the pair clashed in the Copa del Rey last month
  • Ahead of this round of fixtures, only six teams have netted more goals in their last five La Liga games than Leganes’ seven

Madrid may be tested by Leganes

Real Madrid signed off for the international break with a 2-1 win at Villarreal, but it was far from a vintage performance from Carlo Ancelotti’s side in Castellon.

Los Blancos were outshot 23-9 by their hosts, lost the corner count 11-4 and had 0.5 fewer expected goals than Villarreal’s 1.6, suggesting the Spanish champions are far from at their best right now.

They will expect to find things a fair bit easier when welcoming relegation-threatened Leganes to the Bernabeu on Saturday, but there is reason to believe the visitors can make their mark in the capital.

Capital clash could provide goals

Leganes, for all their struggles, have been finding the net at a decent rate recently, scoring seven goals in their last five matches and putting two past Real Betis before the international break – a real feat given that game marked Betis’ fifth straight La Liga win.

They are understandably huge odds to get a positive result at the Bernabeu but they netted two against Real in the Copa del Rey last month and could play their part against the champions again.

Real Madrid have gone five games without a clean sheet and have managed just two in their last 13, suggesting both sides should find the net on Sunday.
