Sociedad can build on midweek success

Real Sociedad have been solid at the back this season and Imanol Alguacil’s side should be backed when they host Leganes at Reale Arena on Sunday.

They are seven points above Leganes in the table, but both teams have lost more games than they’ve won. Sociedad have had nine wins and 11 defeats while Leganes have posted five wins and ten losses.

The hosts, who progressed past Midtjylland in the Europa League on Thursday evening, have enjoyed success in four of their last six La Liga home games and will be confident of winning again on home turf.

Their opponents have been struggling in front of goal. Leganes have failed to score in three of their last four league matches and their lack of creativity will be a concern for coach Asier Garitano.

The visitors lost 2-0 to Valencia two weeks ago in their most recent La Liga away game and have now gone three matches without scoring on the road.

Real Sociedad may be able to edge out Leganes in a tight game, with a 2-1 home win the correct-score pick.

Leganes have been in some low-scoring games of late – six of the last eight have gone under 2.5 goals – but there were six goals in their clash with Alaves lsaast weekend, when they drew 3-3.
