Sociedad can edge past visitors

Real Sociedad look set to continue their winning streak when they host Mallorca at the Reale Arena on Saturday. They have won four of their last six home games in La Liga.

This is a mid-table clash, with Real Sociedad eighth and Mallorca tenth, but both teams have lost more games than they’ve won. Real Sociedad have won 12 and lost 13 of their 30 games, while Mallorca have 11 wins and 12 defeats.

Real Sociedad beat Las Palmas 3-1 last weekend, in what was their second consecutive La Liga win. This was expected to be a close match, but Real Sociedad were comfortable winners at odds of 7/5. They have won 12 of the 15 games in which they’ve scored first this season (80%).

Mallorca have been disappointing in front of goal away from home this season, scoring just 12 goals in 14 games – an average of 0.86 goals a game on the road.

They have been unable to keep their opponents at bay in 11 straight La Liga games and have failed to keep a clean sheet in 18 of their last 19. They are on a run of five away days without recording a shutout.

Real Sociedad have won two of the last three La Liga games against Mallorca by a single goal and, with eight of Mallorca’s 12 defeats this season coming in the same manner, a 2-1 home win is the correct-score pick.
