Real Sociedad vs Monaco Predictions

Monaco can breach La Real’s backline

Real Sociedad and Monaco meet in the Europa League on Thursday in what may prove to be a key fixture in the battle to qualify from what looks to be a particularly competitive Group B.

Monaco currently have the advantage after beating Sturm Graz in their opener, while La Real have one point on the board after opening their account with a 2-2 draw at PSV Eindhoven.

All four teams in the group will feel they have a realistic chance of reaching the knockout stages, and a win for either Sociedad or Monaco here could be massive.

Both teams go into this clash in good form as Monaco are unbeaten in their last four, with three wins and one draw, while Sociedad are unbeaten in seven games since losing their season opener at Barcelona (W5, D2). As such picking a winner here is tricky but both teams to score does look worth exploring.

La Real are yet to concede at the Anoeta this season and that is a concern, but there have been goals at both ends in each of Monaco’s last three games and in two of Sociedad’s last four outings. The visitors also managed to score twice against a strong Nice defence earlier this month, and both teams scored in a pre-season meeting between these two sides so there is a real chance we’ll see goals at both ends on Thursday.

Los Txuri-Urdin are yet to lose at home this season with three wins and a draw and they may be able to keep that unbeaten record intact, with a 1-1 result having some appeal in the correct score market.
