Red Bull Salzburg 3-1

Red Bull Salzburg vs Twente Predictions

  • Both teams have scored in six of Twente’s last seven matches
  • Twente have kept just two clean sheets in their last 11 outings
  • Eight of Salzburg’s last nine games have featured at least three goals

Salzburg have hit the ground running

Salzburg reached the group stage of the Champions League last season and while they did not take the Austrian title last term, there has been enough from them already this term to suggest they can get their European quest off to a strong start on Tuesday.

After gaining a 6-0 win in the cup for starters, their league campaign began with a 3-2 win at Grazer AZ and they can usually be relied upon to be at their best in the final third, especially if Karim Konate, who scored 20 goals last season, gets his act together.

A 4-3 cup defeat to Sturm Graz in April has been the only time in their last eight games they have been beaten on their own patch and they should be confident that they can beat Twente, who have yet to begin their new domestic campaign.

Twente defence could struggle

Twente finished third in the Eredivisie last season and this is the first time in 14 years they have played at this level, so they may be vulnerable against their more experienced opponents.

Despite their lofty league finish, they won just one of their final five away games last season and they may not be able to keep the Austrians at bay as they have conceded in eight of their last ten matches.
