Rennes to romp to victory at Roazhon

Over 2.5 goals has been a winning bet in five of the last seven Ligue 1 clashes between Rennes and Lille, and there should be plenty of goalmouth action when Rennes host Lille at Roazhon Park on Sunday.

Lille are fifth in Ligue 1, nine places and 12 points above Rennes, with nine wins, eight draws and four losses from their 21 games this season. The hosts have seven wins, two draws and 12 defeats.

Lille have been in patchy form recently, with two wins, two draws and two defeats in their last six Ligue 1 games. However, they are unbeaten in 11 league games against Rennes and have returned home winners on three of their last four visits to Rennes, despite failing to win six of their last seven away games overall.

Lille lost 2-1 to Le Havre on Saturday, in what was Le Havre’s first win in eight Ligue 1 games. This was Lille’s fourth consecutive game with over 2.5 goals, and it was a surprise defeat for the hosts, who were priced at 1/3 to win. Lille have now failed to win six of the 12 games in which they have been odds-on this season.

Both teams have been scoring regularly of late. Rennes have found the net in eight of their last nine Ligue 1 games, while Lille have scored two or more goals in 11 of their 21 games this season, including in a recent 4-1 win over St-Etienne.

Rennes have been struggling defensively, failing to keep a clean sheet in two of their last three Ligue 1 home games.

Three of Rennes’ seven Ligue 1 wins this season have been by three or more goals, and a 3-0 home win is the call in the correct-score betting. Lille’s recent form has featured plenty of goals, and this game should be no different.
