Back another low-scoring Braga win

Braga have been solid at the back this season and there may not be many goals in store when they visit Rio Ave on Sunday. Under 2.5 goals looks the best bet.

Braga are fourth in the league, 21 points ahead of Rio Ave, who sit 11th with six wins and nine defeats. Braga have 14 wins, five draws and four losses.

Rio Ave have won just one of their last seven Primeira Liga matches and are finding it hard to put opponents away, while Braga have won seven of their last nine league games, including a 2-1 win over Benfica. They have also avoided defeat in nine of their last ten games against Rio Ave.

Braga’s 1-0 win over CD Nacional was their fourth Primeira Liga game in six with under 2.5 goals. A first-half goal was enough to get the job done, but Braga had the chances to beat them by more than the one-goal margin.

Two of the last three times that Rio Ave have hosted Braga in the Primeira Liga have produced under 2.5 goals and a low-scoring game looks on the cards again here.

Braga have won seven of their last nine Primeira Liga away games and have secured four 1-0 victories this season. With three of Rio Ave’s nine defeats also coming via a 1-0 scoreline, a narrow win for the visitors looks likely.
