Roma the team in greater need

Roma face a tough test on Thursday as they entertain Eintracht Frankfurt in the Europa League, knowing they could face an early exit if they fail to win.

In contrast, the German outfit sit second in the standings and are all but assured a place in the last 16 so Roma are clearly the team with the greater motivation.

The Serie A outfit have been in fine form at home with six successive wins across all competitions and they can lock in their play-off spot with victory on Thursday.

Frankfurt have won just one of their last five away games and have lost three of those trips, including a 3-2 defeat at Lyon in the last round of games.

The Bundesliga club were lucky to claim a 3-1 win at Besiktas in their first Europa League trip and were then given a stern test by Denmark’s Midtjylland, so a Roma side desperate for a victory may be able to triumph here.

A 3-1 home win is the correct score prediction as Roma have scored at least twice in each of their last six home games and more than twice in five of those, but Frankfurt have only failed to score in one of their last 13 away games and can at least strike in defeat in Rome.
