      Roma vs FC Porto Predictions

Roma were one of the surprising additions to the latter stages of last season’s Champions League campaign, with a number of incredibly impressive results taking them all the way to the semi finals before a narrow defeat to Liverpool over 2 enthralling legs.

They lost that game 7-6 on aggregate, almost mounting another sensational comeback after they overcame a 4-1 deficit against Barcelona in the quarter finals. Last season’s knockout stages were defined by incredible scorelines, and Roma’s disparity in home and away form contributed to the excitement massively.

This season the I Giallarossi managed to win 3 of their 6 group stage matches, losing to Real Madrid in both fixtures and falling to a disappointing loss at Viktoria Plzen. Still, the knockout stages were where they came alive last term and they will be hoping for the same this term.

FC Porto aren’t a team to be taken lightly though. The Portuguese side were 1 of just 5 teams to remain unbeaten throughout the group stages earlier this season, winning 5 of their 6 matches and scoring an impressive 15 goals in the process. They beat Galatasaray and Lokomotiv Moscow away from home and only dropped points when they visited Schalke.

Admittedly there are some real concerns at the back though. They only kept 1 clean sheet in these 6 matches and away from home in the Champions League they have only kept 3 clean sheets in their last 17 matches in a run stretching back to 2014.

Meanwhile, Roma have found the net in 14 of their last 17 Champions League outings but have also conceded in 11 of them. Given the fact that Porto have scored an average of 2.5 goals per game in the competition this season, we’re expecting the Portuguese giants to trouble the Roma defence on Tuesday.

That being said, Porto’s chance of a clean sheet looks very unlikely too, so we like the look of Both Teams to Score for this clash along with a 1-1 correct score prediction.
