Goals at a premium as Salford host Bradford

Saturday’s clash between Salford and Bradford at Moor Lane is unlikely to be a goal fest. Bradford’s last seven games in League Two have all finished with under 2.5 goals and eight of their last nine have stayed under this mark.

Bradford are second in League Two, seven places and 12 points above ninth-placed Salford, with 17 wins, nine draws and seven losses. Salford have won 13, drawn nine and lost ten of their 32 games this season.

Salford are struggling to get wins, having failed to triumph in seven of their last eight League Two games. They have sustained two successive reverses and could be on for an unwanted hat-trick.

Bradford are hard to beat – they have avoided defeat in nine of their last ten league games and have not lost in their last six league meetings with Salford.

Bradford beat Bromley 1-0 on Tuesday to bring the hosts’ four-game unbeaten run to an end. That means ten of Bradford’s last 12 League Two away games have gone under 2.5 goals, with fewer than three goals in four successive matches on the road.

Bradford have kept three shutouts in their last four League Two away games and have conceded just 18 goals on the road this season – an average of 1.13 per game.

It could be hard to separate these two sides, with the 1-1 draw looking like a decent correct-score bet.

Bradford have drawn nine matches in League Two this season and five of them have finished 1-1.
