Sandefjord vs Rosenborg Predictions
As things stand, even with much of the season still to play, Sandefjord appear to be on their way down. Sunday’s hosts arrive at this juncture having accumulated just six points. Unsurprisingly, they’re bottom of the pile and are now five points behind the team directly in front of them. A draw in their last match was the slightest bit of respite, though it’s likely that they’ll be back to losing ways here. Against a strong Rosenborg side, the hosts will need to deliver their best performance of the season, and even that may not be enough.
Unlike the hosts, who’re seemingly heading down, Rosenborg are challenging at the other end of the table. The visitors haven’t exactly been at their imperious best for the entire campaign, though seeing off a poor Sandefjord side should be well within the grasp of Kåre Ingebrigtsen’s men, who come into this match off the back of a pleasing 3-0 victory last time out.
Rosenborg’s form on the road of late has been impressive, or at least it was until they lost 2-1 away against Tromso last time out. However, as disappointing as that defeat was, the visitors won’t be feeling too downbeat ahead of a match against a home team who find it very hard to avoid defeat, even on their own patch.
With the hosts having lost each of their last four at home, as well as six of their last eight in front of a home crowd, it’s easy to see the visitors, who’ve won four of their last five on the road, coming out on top. From a quality point of view, as the table suggests, it’s clear that Rosenborg have far more about them at both ends of the pitch and that ought to be evident right from the word go.
However, as poor as Sandefjord have been in front of their own fans of late, they’ve not been heavily beaten all that often. Scoring goals is seemingly beyond them – Sandefjord have failed to score in each of their last four at home – but they have kept teams at bay for lengthy periods, conceding more than once in just one of their last four home matches.
In addition to the hosts not conceding all that many goals, Rosenborg haven’t exactly gone mad on their travels. In fact, the visitors have scored more than once in just one of their last five on the road, while they’ve only scored a modest seven goals overall on the road this season. They’re undoubtedly the better team, though running away with this may not be on the agenda for Kåre Ingebrigtsen’s men.
All things considered, given both the extra quality of Rosenborg and the recent performances of both, backing an away win in combination with ‘Under 3.5 Goals’ is the best option at the prices.
