Can Scotland pull off a shock?

You have to go back to 1984 for the last time Scotland beat Spain, with the Blue and Whites losing three of the five meetings between the two sides since then.

They are certainly in a good place at the moment though, downing Cyprus 3-0 in their opening Euro 2024 qualifier on Saturday, a ninth successive home game in which they have netted.

Steve Clarke’s side have also won seven of their last nine fixtures at Hampden Park, while there have been three or more strikes in eight of their ten most recent internationals.

Spain need to keep going

Spain on the other hand put a disappointing Qatar 2022 World Cup behind them by hammering Norway 3-0 on Saturday night.

That was the fifth time in eight outings there have been three or more strikes in one of their internationals, four of which have seen both teams score.

They have also netted in 11 successive away games, outside of tournament football, seven of which saw both teams score.

I predict that both teams will score in this game too, but expect Spain to come away with the win, selecting 2-1 as a correct score prediction.
