Serbia vs Portugal Predictions
- Both teams have scored in each of the last six meetings between Serbia and Portugal.
- Portugal won 4-2 on their last visit to Serbia in 2019.
- Portugal have lost just one of their last 11 fixtures.
Both teams to score in Belgrade
Two of the teams expected to battle it out for supremacy in Group A meet in Belgrade when Serbia host Portugal in what promises to be an intriguing World Cup qualification tussle on Saturday.
Serbia got their campaign off to a winning start on Wednesday evening when they came from behind to beat an injury-hit Republic of Ireland team 3-2, though the host’s defensive lapses against their patched-up visitors would have frustrated coach Dragan Stojković.
Portugal meanwhile, carved out a narrow triumph at home to Azerbaijan in a group opener that was supposed to be routine, and Fernando Santos’ men will have to pull up their socks to make it two wins from two against a classier Serbian outfit on Saturday.
Serbia and Portugal shared a European Championship qualification group in 2019, and the last encounter between the sides finished 4-2 in Belgrade in favour of the team armed with Cristiano Ronaldo.
That was the sixth meeting in a row between the nations where both teams scored, and the same market appeals for Saturday’s contest. Serbia looked suspect at the back against a weak Irish XI on Wednesday, and our 2-1 correct score prediction tips a more formidable Portugal to capitalise on their host’s lax defending.
Portugal have lost just once in their last 11 matches (1-0 vs France), and with talent to burn in their ranks, they can make it two wins from two in Group A at Serbia’s expense.
