Sevilla vs Valencia Predictions
- Sevilla have won five of their last seven home La Liga matches, four of them by a 1-0 scoreline
- Valencia have lost six of their nine away league matches, failing to score in five
- Valencia have won only one of their last 11 matches against Sevilla, losing six of them
Valencia’s worries could worsen
Valencia’s relegation worries could worsen when they head to Estadio Ramon Sanchez-Pizjuan to face a Sevilla side smarting from last week’s Copa del Rey defeat. Carlos Corberan got his first win in charge when his side overcame Segunda Division strugglers Eldense to advance to the last-16 of the cup.
The ex-West Brom boss will hope that leads to an upturn in Valencia’s away league form, which has been terrible this season with Los Che having lost six and drawn three of their nine road games.
He went pretty strong in the cup with the likes of Hugo Duro, Pepelu, Javi Guerra and Cristhian Mosquera all starting while Sevilla boss Garcia Pimienta made four changes to the side that lost 4-2 to Real Madrid and paid the penalty as the Rojiblancos crashed out at Segunda Division leaders Almeria.
Sevilla have been hard to break down at home
Sevilla’s home form is sufficiently impressive to suggest they bounce back with a win in this fixture – which they have had the better of in recent years. The Andalusians have won six and drawn four of the last 11 meetings with Valencia and come into this on the back of five wins in their last seven home La Liga games.
While they have been shipping too many goals away from home, Sevilla have been very hard to break down at Estadio Ramon Sanchez-Pizjuan with four of those five victories accompanied by clean sheets.
They may be worth backing to beat Valencia, who have failed to score in five of their nine away league games, to nil but the odds on a home win are decent enough anyway without having to worry about whether Corberan’s influence will make Valencia more potent on the road.
