Sheffield United vs Fulham Predictions
- At least three goals have been scored in Sheffield United’s last five home Premier League matches
- At least three goals have been scored in seven of Fulham’s last eight away league games
- Rodrigo Muniz has scored seven goals in his last seven games
Next season becoming the focus for Fulham and Blades
Sheffield United are running out of games to save themselves with Saturday’s visit of Fulham entering the must-win territory for Chris Wilder’s men.
Nottingham Forest’s four-point penalty for breaching Profit and Sustainability Rules means the Blades are eight points from safety with 10 games to go, but in reality they are already planning for life back in the Championship.
Fulham reached 38 points with their 3-0 home win over Tottenham last time out and must feel they are safe in the top flight for another season. Marco Silva, who signed a new contract in October, will already be thinking about who stays and who goes from his playing squad too.
Muniz too hot to miss right now
Silva may need to bring in some younger legs and ease some of the older heads like Willian, Tim Ream and Raul Jimenez into the background. But the Portuguese coach has found the answer to a problem he faced after Aleksandar Mitrovic’s departure – who would score the goals?
Rodrigo Muniz has stepped up in a big way since the start of February with seven goals in his last seven appearances. The Brazilian should be backed to maintain that purple patch against a defense that has leaked 14 goals in the Blades’ last four games.
Wilder’s team could not hold onto a 2-0 lead at Bournemouth last time out when there was only 16 minutes of normal time left and it was no surprise to see them fail to win yet another game in which they led.
Bramall Lane should see some goals
Fulham should win, but there is just one nagging doubt about them which might put a few backers off supporting them at odds-on prices for this fixture: they still concede too many goals away from home. Only four clubs have shipped more times on their travels than the Cottagers and it seems highly unlikely that they will keep only a second road clean sheet of the campaign in Sheffield.
That means they will need to score at least two to beat the Blades, who themselves have scored nine goals in their last eight Premier League games.
However, the hosts have shipped two or more in eight of their last ten top-flight matches, which suggests the odds about this clash featuring three or more goals are worthy of a second look.
