Sheffield United vs Leicester City Predictions
- Sheffield United have lost nine of their ten Premier League games this season.
- Leicester have won four of their five league away games.
- Sheffield United have failed to score in four of their five Premier League home games.
- Jamie Vardy has scored ten goals in 11 appearances so far this term.
Blades steel themselves for relegation dogfight
Sheffield United’s miserable start to the Premier League campaign continued last weekend as they became the only side yet to claim a victory in the top flight, losing 1-0 at West Brom to cement their place at the bottom of the table.
The struggling Blades have picked up just one point from their opening ten games, leaving them six points adrift of safety already and staring down the barrel of a difficult relegation battle.
Chris Wilder’s problems lie all over the pitch. They are yet to keep a clean sheet this season but are severely lacking in the attackign department, scoring just four goals all season and failing to find the net in three of their last four.
Leicester set to return to winning ways
This represents the perfect opportunity for Leicester to break out of their mini downturn in form. The Foxes lost to Zorya in midweek but welcome back a host of rested players on Sunday, and with just three points separating them from the top spot they still find themselves in an excellent position.
Leicester’s defeat to Fulham last weekend was undeniably a poor showing from Brendan Rodgers’ side, but they have won four of their five away games this season and their only blip on the road came at Anfield.
Victory for the visitors looks good value, and with Sheffield United scoring just one goal in five home games this season a clean sheet could be on the cards for the visiting Foxes. They have scored 1.9 goals per game on average this season, so a 2-0 correct score prediction is our choice.
It’s also worth delving into the anytime goalscorer market. Jamie Vardy has scored ten goals in 11 appearances this season and has bagged eight in the Premier League, so we’re opting for him to find the net.
Sheffield United injuries and team news
Jack O’Connell is the only confirmed absentee for Sheffield United but both Ethan Ampadu and Enda Stevens are doubtful for the home side.
Rhian Brewster came off the bench in their defeat last weekend, but Oli McBurnie and Oliver Burke are expected to continue leading the line.
Leicester injuries and team news
Roberto Pereira, Wilfred Ndidi and Caglar Soyuncu all returned to action in midweek but could be rested here. Daniel Amartey is the only player ruled out, with Timothy Castagne slowly returning to fitness following his injury.
