Under 2.5 Match Goals

Reason for tip

Given Hull’s tendency to play low-scoring games, with 26 of their 39 matches this season ending with under 2.5 goals, this is likely to be a tight, low-scoring encounter. Sheffield Wednesday’s recent form also suggests a lack of goals in their matches, making under 2.5 goals the best bet.

Draw 1-1

Reason for tip

A 1-1 draw is a strong correct-score option. Hull have drawn their last three away games 1-1, and Sheffield Wednesday have also recently ended their match against Cardiff in a 1-1 stalemate, suggesting this could be the most likely outcome.

Sheffield Wednesday vs Hull City Predictions

Goals in short supply at Hillsborough

Goals could be at a premium when Sheffield Wednesday host Hull at Hillsborough on Saturday, and under 2.5 goals looks the best bet.

Eight of Hull’s last nine Championship matches have ended with under 2.5 goals and 26 of their 39 league games this season have finished with under 2.5 goals.

Both teams have lost more games than they’ve won this season, but Hull are nine places below Sheffield Wednesday in the table. The hosts sit 12th with 14 wins and 15 defeats, while Hull are 21st having won ten and lost 18.

Sheffield Wednesday’s recent form has been inconsistent, with two wins, one draw and three defeats in their last six games. They have not won at home in the Championship for six games.

Hull, meanwhile, have not won any of their last three away games, drawing the last two.

Hull lost 1-0 to Luton last weekend and will have been frustrated to lose to a comical own goal having been priced at 5/4 to win the game.

Four of the last six times that Sheffield Wednesday have hosted Hull in the Championship have ended with under 2.5 goals, and Saturday’s game looks set to follow suit.

It could be hard to separate these two sides, with the 1-1 draw looking like a decent correct-score bet. Hull’s last three Championship draws have all ended with a 1-1 scoreline and Sheffield Wednesday drew 1-1 against Cardiff City in their last game.
