Shrewsbury vs Swindon Predictions
- Swindon have lost all four of their away games this season
- Both teams have scored in four of Shrewsbury’s five home league games
- Swindon’s nine league games have featured 31 goals – an average of 3.44 goals per game
Goals likely to flow at New Meadow
Shrewsbury have won only one of their opening ten games but they may fancy their chances of leapfrogging fellow strugglers Swindon with victory at New Meadow.
The Shrews had suffered four consecutive defeats prior to a 1-1 draw with Burton, but their 2-0 win at League Two highfliers Cambridge in the FA Cup last weekend may have restored the confidence that had gone missing.
Sam Ricketts’ side have found winning hard to come by this term but they have been extremely competitive in most of their league outings, as draws at Portsmouth and Plymouth highlight.
Swindon have lost all four of their away games this term and the recent departure of manager Richie Wellens, who left for League Two Salford after citing a lack of ambition at the Wiltshire club, is of some concern.
But Swindon’s matches are rarely short on entertainment and with form an issue for both, backing a lively contest may be the safer approach.
Swindon’s nine league games this season have featured 31 goals, an average of 3.44 goals per outing, while both teams have scored in four of Shrewsbury’s five New Meadow outings.
A bet on over 2.5 goals is advised and we predict Shrewsbury to win 2-1. The Robins have suffered two of their last three defeats by that margin.
