Sirius vs Djurgarden Predictions
Djurgarden head into this Saturday’s Swedish Allsvenskan clash with Sirius in very decent form as they look to keep with the early pace being set by league leaders Malmo. The title favourites are 6 points clear after their midweek game but Djurgarden are one of the few teams who look capable of at least making them work, as the title race begins to take shape.
They made it three straight wins last time out by seeing off Ostersunds 3-1 at the Tele2 Arena in Stockholm. They had to come from behind to grab all the points there and overall they have responded really well to a 2-0 home derby defeat to defending champions AIK in mid May. They will certainly be eyeing up another victory here against a slightly inconsistent Sirius side.
The hosts are in mid-table currently with 2 wins but 3 defeats from their 5 games in May. One of those victories did come last time out though as they won 2-0 away to Orebro to gain a number of places and install at least a bit of a cushion on the bottom three. They finished immediately above those places last term and survival is clearly their primary objective again this time around.
On current form, you have to side with the away team here though. Sirius have lost 4 of their last 5 matches at home and they were all against top seven sides, which suggests they are a bit short on quality when it comes to facing off against the big guns in Sweden, of which 3rd placed Djurgarden are certainly one. The only game they did win during that period was against GIF Sundsvall, who currently find themselves in the relegation play-off place.
Djurgarden meanwhile have been fairly competent travellers so far this season which should give them all the belief they need to go and win this game. They’ve won 5 of their last 7 competitive away games overall, including some commanding performances, such as their 3-0 win at struggling Falkenberg last time out.
The visitors are the clear favourites here as you might expect but they’ve been strong enough on the road over a long enough period of time to fancy them to get the job done. Overall backing Djurgarden to Win looks like the way to go in this one and with a strong defensive record, going for a 2-0 Djurgarden Win looks good in the Correct Score market.
