Slovenia vs Denmark Predictions
- Denmark have won five of their six meetings with Slovenia
- Both teams have scored in the last three meetings
- Denmark have lost one of their last 12 matches in all competitions
- Slovenia have lost one of their last ten matches in all competitions
Danes could edge out familiar foes
Slovenia and Denmark have had a good look at each other recently and their Euro 2024 Group C opener should be a competitive affair in Stuttgart.
The pair met in qualifying for these finals and there was little to separate them over ten rounds of matches with both sides ending the campaign on 22 points.
The Danes topped the group courtesy of a better head-to-head record which was sealed with a 2-1 win over the Slovenes in November last year.
Prior to that, their other group encounter finished 1-1 and the last three meetings have seen both teams get on the scoresheet, so we predict a Denmark win in this contest, with each side finding the net.
Tournament experience an advantage
Both sides arrive in Germany in good form – Denmark have lost one of their last 12 outings and Slovenia one of their last ten – but Slovenia are warm favourites to finish bottom of a section also containing England and Serbia.
The Three Lions are expected to finish top, but with three places possibly being enough to qualify for the knockout stages, every game will be crucial and picking up one win may be enough to go through, so that could lead to some lively encounters.
Nerves often play a part in the early exchanges of tournaments but Denmark are seasoned campaigners in major finals, so our prediction is for them to overcome their inexperienced opponents, who are appearing at their first Euros in 24 years and just their second overall.
Expect a familiar outcome
It was 2-1 to Denmark the last time these two locked horns and we predict a similar scoreline in Stuttgart on Sunday.
Slovenia have scored in each of their last 12 matches while Denmark have kept a clean sheet in only one of their last six, so the Dragons should be able to find a way through but whether they can spring a shock result remains to be seen.
They do, however, possess a top striker in the form of RB Leipzig star Benjamin Sesko, and he looks a solid option for those looking at an anytime goal scorer bet.
Sesko bagged five goals in nine qualifying matches and the sought-after forward will be keen to showcase his talents on the major stage this summer.
