South Korea U23 vs Mexico U23 Predictions

      • South Korea scored 10 goals in the group stages, Mexico scored eight.
      • Both teams have scored in two of Mexico’s three games.

Goals could be on the cards in Yokohama

South Korea and Mexico meet in the quarter-finals of the Olympics on Saturday in what could be an intriguing tie.

The young Taegeuk Warriors slipped to a shock defeat to New Zealand in their opener but responded well with a 4-0 thrashing of Romania before destroying Honduras 6-0 in what was essentially a knockout game.

Mexico represents their biggest test so far, but we feel they have a chance to get a result on Saturday in what is an incredibly tough game to call.

The Central Americans made a huge statement with a 4-1 win over France in their opener but the gloss has perhaps been taken off that result given Les Bleus’ struggles since as they fell at the first hurdle.  Mexico beat a depleted South Africa in their final group game but defeat in their second match to Japan suggests South Korea can get a result here.

Both Japan and South Korea play with similar counter-attacking tactics and Mexico may come unstuck against another Asian team on Saturday.  El Tri have plenty of quality themselves in attack and with that in mind we may well see goals at both ends in this meeting.  Mexico have managed eight goals in their three games and South Korea have scored an impressive 10 – despite drawing a blank against the Kiwis – so both teams to score is out top bet for this tie.  With little to separate these two teams and both in good scoring form, a 2-2 result has a chance in the correct score market.
