South Korea primed for victory?

After losing a four year unbeaten home record at the hands of Brazil earlier this month, South Korea bounced back with a 2-0 defeat of Chile in a friendly on Monday.

That was a 13th win in 17 matches for Paulo Bento’s side, who have also been victorious in 15 of their 23 home matches since a friendly defeat to Bosnia and Herzegovina in 2018.

They have kept seven clean sheets in their 10 outings, including four from five at home, while the Suwon World Cup Stadium is a happy hunting ground – they have won 10 times in 11 outings there since the 2002 World Cup.

Paraguay desperate to find some form

Whereas South Korea will be at Qatar 2022, the same cannot be said for Paraguay, who head into this friendly having lost seven of their last nine matches.

Manager Guillermo Barros Schelotto has won only one of his seven games in charge, but the extended form on the road is dreadful, tasting defeat in six of their last seven and netting just one goal in the process.

‘The Guaraníes’ do not have a great record in friendlies either, winning just two of their last 23, a run that stretches back to 2014.
