Atletico Madrid and Both Teams To Score

Reason for tip

Atletico Madrid have won five matches on the spin and should have too much for Sparta Prague, who have only beaten second-tier opposition in their last six games and have lost their last two Champions League fixtures. However, Atletico have seen both teams score in five of their last eight games and the same bet may land again.

Atletico Madrid 2-1

Reason for tip

Sparta have scored in each of their 13 home games this season, suggesting they should have enough to score on Tuesday, albeit in defeat. Atletico’s last Champions League game saw them win 2-1 at Paris St-Germain and a repeat scoreline can be expected in Prague.

Sparta Prague vs Atletico Madrid Predictions

  • Atletico Madrid have won eight of their last 13 away games
  • Sparta Prague are winless in four and have lost their last two Champions League matches
  • Both teams have scored in five of Atleti’s last eight games and three of their four European matches this term

Sparta’s struggles set to continue

A poor start to the season continued for Sparta Prague on Saturday as they were to a 1-1 draw by relegation-threatened Teplice in the Czech top flight, a result which left them 11 points off the leaders, their bitter rivals Slavia.

Sparta’s rivals have a game in hand too and given that disappointing draw with Teplice marked a fourth match without a win for the Prague outfit – their only win in six came against second-tier Zbrojovka Brno – it is hard to imagine a visit from European royalty will provide the tonic to their luckless run.

Atletico Madrid are their next opponents and they could not be in more contrasting form to their hosts, winning each of their last five games.

Madrid may prove too strong in Prague

Diego Simeone’s side had a reputation as poor travellers for a while but have put that notion to bed recently, winning eight of their last 13 away matches.

Atleti beat Paris St-Germain 2-1 in the French capital in their last Champions League match and that result will strike fear into the hearts of Sparta Prague’s fans and players alike, with the Madrid side set for another away win on Tuesday.

There may at least be some joy for Sparta, though, as both teams have scored in five of Atletico’s last eight games and three of their four European matches this term, suggesting the hosts might have enough to net against Simeone’s side, albeit in defeat.
