Inter Milan To Win To Nil

Reason for tip

Inter have the joint-best defence in this season’s Champions League, conceding just once, while all four of their wins in the competition have come to nil.  Sparta Prague have lost four European games on the bounce and may struggle to avoid another defeat against their miserly opponents.

Inter Milan 1-0

Reason for tip

Three of Inter’s four victories in Europe this season have been by a 1-0 scoreline and although they are defensively strong, the goals have not been flowing for Simone Inzaghi’s side on the continent. The Nerazzurri should edge this one, but do not expect many thrills along the way.

Sparta Prague vs Inter Milan Predictions

  • Sparta Prague have lost four successive Champions League matches
  • Inter Milan have conceded just once in this season’s Champions League
  • Three of Inter’s four European wins this season have been by a 1-0 scoreline

Inter used to grinding out results

Inter Milan suffered their first defeat and conceded their first goal in this season’s Champions League against Bayer Leverkusen in their last European fixture but they will hope to revert back to type when they visit Sparta Prague.

Prior to that defeat in Germany, Inter had recorded four successive wins to nil in the competition, with three of those – against Young Boys, Arsenal and RB Leipzig – finishing 1-0.

The Nerazzurri boast the joint-best defensive record in the Champions League this season alongside table toppers Liverpool and they will be confident they can shut out Sparta.

Sparta’s European hopes fading

Sparta Prague’s first season back in the Champions League proper since the 2005-06 campaign started well, as they took four points from their opening two games, but they have since lost four matches on the spin.

Lars Friis’ side have also scored just two goals during that losing run and they may also be caught cold on Wednesday given they have not played a competitive fixture for over a month.

Inter’s lack of goalscoring thrust in Europe this season – they have scored just seven goals, the same number as Sparta – means this could be low scoring, but Simone Inzaghi’s side should have too much for their Czech hosts.
