Both Teams To Score

Reason for tip

Each of Bologna’s previous six games have seen BTTS land, including last week’s 2-1 victory over Borussia Dortmund. They head to a Sporting side who need a result, but the Portuguese outfit have lost three consecutive Champions League games, scoring in each.

Draw 1-1

Reason for tip

Bologna’s previous five games have featured three score draws, while their European results have improved after a rough start. The visitors claimed a point in Lisbon against Benfica before beating Dortmund, while their opponents have lost all of their games in this competition since Ruben Amorim left.

Viktor Gyokeres To Score Anytime

Reason for tip

Gyokeres has six goals in seven games in the League Phase, while the forward has scored in five of his last six appearances, netting seven goals in that stretch. He’s already hit 34 goals across all competitions this term, so he’ll be their go-to man in this huge game.

Sporting Lisbon vs Bologna Predictions

  • Both teams have scored in Bologna’s previous six
  • Sporting have lost their last three Champions League games, scoring in each
  • Gyokeres has 34 goals across all competitions, netting in five of his last six

Can Sporting shake slump?

When Ruben Amorim left Lisbon for Manchester, he had Sporting in a brilliant position within the Champions League’s 36-team table. The Portuguese champions took 10 points from their first four matches, including that 4-1 thumping against Man City. However, a three-game losing streak in Europe since his departure has left Sporting clinging on to a place in the next round.

Sporting have slipped to 23rd and they need to end this losing streak if they’re to qualify for the next round. A clash with already-eliminated Bologna plays into the hosts hands, but the Rossoblu will surely want to make their mark in the final game of their debut Champions League campaign.

Bologna made a slow start but they’ve taken four points from their last two in Europe. The visitors have also seen both teams score in each of their previous six, so they’ll pose a threat going forward.

Defensive issues have hurt Sporting, as they’ve shipped nine goals across defeats to Arsenal, Club Brugge and RB Leipzig. They’ve got quality going forward, as Victor Gyokeres has 34 goals in all competitions this term, scoring six goals across seven Champions League games.
